Thirty by Thirty, recent news!

#3. Take a Cooking Class. This weekend, Cheryl and I will be heading to Central Market in Southlake to experience our cooking class together! I am more than excited and hope for a great experience!!

#7. Run A 5K. I plan to sign up for the Race for the Cure this year as a RUNNER, not a walker. I'm very excited to take on the challenge.... Just one month to get ready! Wish me luck!

#11. Volunteer for a good cause. Today I signed up to help with Adopt A Pet here in the North Texas area. All you have to do is fill out a questionaire and the agency will send you an email when they need help. I chose helping with Mobile Adoptions, walking/grooming/brushing dogs, or fundraising and organizing events. Hopefully I will hear something from them soon. I have included information on this organization for anyone else interested in volunteering.

Dad's Surprise 60th Birthday Party!!

This weekend, Josh and I headed to Little Rock for a Fifties Themed Surprise Party for my Dad. On Monday, he will be the Big 6-0 and we wanted to throw him a party he wouldn't soon forget. Thirty-five of his closest friends and family gathered at Whole Hog and awaited his arrival. As soon as he walked in, you could tell, the Surprise was a complete success!!

Private Room at The Whole Hog Cafe

We had 4 homemade cakes!!

Dad was shocked....

But he was happy!

Unfortunately, I had a terrible cold the entire weekend and wasn't feeling great, but I still had a good time!!

Dad had lots of people to see

Mom, Dad and Daniel

Matthew is getting so big!

My mom and I

Dad checking out all the old pictures we found of him.

Opening a few cards and presents.

The party was great, and I'm so thankful to everyone that came out to make Dad's night absolutely unforgettable!!

Max and his Mallard

So...Max, definitely has his pick of toys... from ropes to bones, he has every kind of toy you can imagine. But...as my neighbors and I have discovered... he does have his favorite, his mallard!! He first found it at Cheryl and Freddy's house, and almost tried to bring it home and steal it from Lola. So I decided to go out and get him one of his own. He absolutely loves it... and here is proof of that!! He is such a great dog, I had to share!

#3... (Signed up to) take a cooking class!

Today, I got on our Central Market Cooking School Home Page to decide on a future cooking class. I looked through February but didn't see anything that caught my eye. Then, got to March and there it was... March 27th... the perfect class that I couldn't afford to miss complete with Wine Sangria, Spring Rolls, Baked Fish and Strawberry cupcakes. I cannot wait to attend and hope that my friend Cheryl will join me!!

Here is the description:

GIRLS NIGHT OUT: SPRING CELEBRATION

Renew, rejuvenate and just plain celebrate time with your friends. Carol will demonstrate a variety of cooking techniques highlighting the bounty of spring produce, fresh seafood and unique ingredients. Becky will share her talent for working with fondant by demonstrating lovely spring fondant flowers that can be used to decorate cupcakes.

Recipes include:
White Wine Sangria;
Fresh Shrimp Spring Rolls with Peanut Dipping Sauce;
Jasmine Rice Pilaf, Baked Fish & Julienne Vegetables en Papillote; and
Strawberry Cupcakes with Fondant Flowers.

More details to follow as the date gets closer!

Donate Blood...COMPLETE!!!

So I did it! Yesterday, I finally went and donated blood for the very first time, and amazingly it was a great experience!! I filled out all the paperwork and took all the preliminary tests, then found out that I qualify as a donor!! The process was pretty quick and painless... and I even got a T-shirt for doing it. Last night, after the eventful day, I was beyond tired. I've never slept so well. I'm not saying that donating blood will give you the best sleep ever, but it sure couldn't hurt. Thanks for all the support! More than likely, that is something I will do again in the future.

# 2....Donate Blood

Tomorrow, my office is holding a blood drive and I'm very nervous but considering donating. This is something I have never done... I actually don't even know my blood type so this should be interesting... Wish me luck! Pictures to come... hopefully!
